David Trachtenbarg, M.D.
Dr. Trachtenbarg is the Medical Director of the Family
Physician's Center. He graduated from the University of Illinois
at Champaign with a B.S. in electrical engineering. He was
awarded his M.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He
later received his M.A. in medical education from Bradley
University. Dr. Trachtenbarg is our own local computer guru. He
has been a prolific writer, having published numerous articles
in Family Practice journals. His is the author of multiple
A.A.F.P. monographs, including Headache and Contraception, and
has presented lectures at many national Family Practice
conventions. In 1994 Dr. Trachtenbarg was named "Family Practice
Educator of Year" for the state of Illinois by the Illinois
Academy of Family Practice. Dr. Trachtenbarg has won our
Residency Teacher of the Year Award in 1981, 1985, 1991, and
1994. He is currently the hospital Family Practice Department
Chairman and recently has been a leader in establishing MMCI's
care path for diabetic care. Dr. Trachtenbarg is currently an
Associate Director of the Family Practice Residency Program. He
and his wife, Joyce, live in Peoria. Dr. Trachtenbarg enjoys
reading, playing with computers and walking his dog.
Dr. Trachtenbarg is board certified in Family Practice and
Geriatrics. He is currently active on many local, state and
national committees and organizations. He either currently is or
has been the medical director of organizations ranging from the
local Planned Parenthood to nursing homes. Dr. Trachtenbarg has
won a variety of awards alluded to above. He is a widely
published author of journal articles, primary care monographs
and textbook chapters. He has given many local and national
presentations and developed several medically related computer
programs. Dr. Trachtenbarg is working very hard to bring
electronic medical record capabilities to this residency
program.
