Internal Medicine Rotation
Several months during our three
year residency are devoted to Internal
Medicine and its various
subspecialties. Our first year rotations alone include one
month of ICU, one month of outpatient medicine at the local VA
Clinic, one month of cardiology, and two months of our Family
Medical Service.
During your rotations in general
internal medicine and medical subspecialties, you acquire
necessary skills in many areas, including:
- cardiopulmonary resuscitation (i.e.,
running codes)
- intubation
- paracentesis
- thoracentesis
- lumbar puncture
- EKG interpretation
- stress testing
- ventilator management
- flexible sigmoidoscopy
- colonoscopy
