Applicants who are graduates of an accredited U.S. or Canadian medical school must have passed parts I & II of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE). Graduates of foreign medical schools must have a medical degree and must fulfill all educational requirements to practice medicine in the country where the degree was obtained. A valid ECFMG or equivalent certificate and a valid visa are required. All documents must be provided in certified English translation. A copy of your valid visa must be presented on or before the day of your interview. We also require photocopies of your USMLE results.

All applicants must be registered through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), which can be viewed at www.aamc.org/students/eras

Applicants must qualify for medical licensure in the state of Illinois. Individuals who graduated from a medical or osteopathic college more than five years prior to date of application for licensure must submit documentation to the Department evidencing continuing clinical skills since graduation from medical school. Upon your medical licensure application being determined complete, you will be scheduled for an interview with the Illinois Medical Licensing Board to provide testimony regarding clinical skills.
