University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria
The Library of the Health Sciences of the University of Illinois
at Peoria, located three blocks from OSF Saint Francis Medical
Center, offers residents 56,000 volumes (monographs and bound
journals) and 1,600 audiovisual titles and subscribes to over
750 journal titles. In addition, it offers on-line access to a
variety of databases including Medline and Ovid, full-text core
journals. The curriculum- and clinical-centered collection
supports basic science research in neurology and clinical
neurology research programs. There are 51 neurology
subscriptions, 15 of which are current issues available on a
one-week basis; and there is an interlibrary loan system. This
library is a unit of the University of Illinois at Chicago
Library of the Health Sciences, one of the largest medical
libraries in the United States.
OSF Saint Francis Medical Center
The medical library at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center has over
6,500 monograph volumes, 12,000 bound journal volumes, 700
journal titles, and 1,800 audiovisual units, with an especially
strong neurology collection.
The Library and Resource Center also has CD-ROM access to various programs as well as Internet
access. The Library participates in interlibrary borrowing and
lending, with same-day service for urgent article requests.
The Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery maintain a library
which subscribes to 25 of the English language journals in
Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Neuroradiology and some basic
science journals. There is also a large number of monographs and
textbooks.
The Residency Program Director has numerous textbooks and
journals which are available to the residents, and there is also
a library in the Neurology outpatient clinic. Many computers are also
available for resident use.
