RESIDENT RECRUITMENT

We accept applications through the CAS (Central Application Service) through the Neurological Surgery Match Program, a part of the SF Matching service.  You may visit their website at www.sfmatch.org

Applications are accepted from non-US medical schools.  Minimum two-digit scores of 80 are required on Step 1 and Step 2 CK of the USMLE for consideration.

Interview offers are initially made in September continuing into later months as necessary, with subsequent interviews in October, November, and occasionally December.  Our schedule for 2007 interviews are below.  Approximately 20-30% of applicants, from a competitive pool, have been interviewed in the past.  From this, we select one resident for the incoming year.

The Department of Neurosurgery has an integrated PGY-1 year.  Thus, acceptance into the program guarantees the applicant the PGY-1 year in general surgery.  There is no need to apply separately through the NRMP.

We strongly encourage you to interview Oct/Nov/Dec.
