CALL SCHEDULE


 

Approximate Call Schedule
PGY1

Dictated by the Departments of Surgery and Neurology.
 
PGY2 (Junior resident)    Home call 6-8 times per month at OSF/Methodist, with chief/senior as back-up as needed.  All calls regarding in-house patients on the adult service at OSF.
 
PGY3 (Junior resident)    Home call approximately 8 times per month at OSF/Methodist, with chief/senior as back-up as needed.  All calls regarding in-house patients on the pediatric service at OSF.
 
PGY4 (Resident)    Home call approximately 8 times per month at OSF/Methodist.  No call for any patients in-house at either OSF/Methodist.
 
PGY5 (Senior resident) Home call approximately 8 times per month at OSF/Methodist.  No call for any patients in-house at either OSF/Methodist.  Responsibilities including assisting the junior residents if required.
 
PGY6 (Chief resident) Protected from call.  Will serve as back-up, although rarely necessary.
 

 

            

Before we became efficient at forwarding our phone calls…we now use only one cellular phone issued to us and a back-up pager in hard to reach areas.  If you must know, from left to right, peds pager, peds cell phone, adult service cell phone, trauma cell phone, and adult pager.
