Stephen Marshall, M.D., FACS

Dr. J. Stephen Marshall is originally from Serena, Illinois.
He received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the
University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1980 and his
doctorate of medicine from Southern Illinois University,
Springfield, in 1983. He completed a Surgical Internship and
began a General Surgery Residency at the University of
Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria and completed his
General Surgery Residency at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's
Medical Center in Chicago in 1988. He is board certified in
General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery and has
also received a Certificate of Added Qualifications in
Surgical Critical Care from the American Board of Surgery.
He is Trauma Chief at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
Dr. Marshall joined our faculty in 1989. He is Associate
Professor of Clinical Surgery, Chief, Section of Trauma, and
Director of the Trauma M & M Case Conference. He received
the resident-elected UICOMP Department of Surgery ‘Faculty
Teaching Award’ in 1990, 1991, 1997 and 2001. He holds
memberships in various surgical societies, is the Director
of Trauma for our main teaching facility, and is on the
active staff at all three Peoria hospitals.
He lives in Peoria with his wife Michele and is the father
of three children.
