Thank you for your interest in our Diagnostic Radiology Residency training program at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria and OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.  As of August 19, 1999 our program has changed it's listing with the National Residency Match Program (NRMP) to a categorical position, therefore we include the preliminary year of training.  We are accepting applications to start the PGY1 (clinical year) position the upcoming academic year.  The following information will help explain the ERAS program.     skeleton.gif (5586 bytes)

This will help to explain the important information about the application process. As you are well aware, radiology participates in ERAS (The Electronic Residency Application Service). This computer program was developed in 1992 and enables all application materials to be transmitted and received via the Internet.

Your medical school will provide you with all the information and help you need to use this application service. The process is simple: you complete your application on a disk and give it to your dean’s office. On the disk you will specify which programs you would like to apply to. All other information is scanned by the dean’s office: transcripts, letters of recommendation, personal statements, CV, and photograph. The NBME and USMLE board scores will be sent by the respective agency via the internet upon request.

Your dean’s office will send all this information via the Internet to what is called the ERAS Post Office. Each day programs across the nation will "visit" the ERAS Post Office and download all files addressed to them.

Following are important things for you to know:

  • USMLE, NBME, or FLEX scores are required for application to our program. These scores will not be sent automatically by your dean’s office.
  • A wallet-sized, color photo is recommended but not required. The ERAS software blocks the viewing of photos until a decision has been made to interview the applicant.
  • You can transmit up to (4) four letters of recommendation but we only require (3) three.

I hope that this information has been helpful to you. Enjoy the web site and if you have any questions about the program, the hospital or Peoria, please do not hesitate to give me a call at (309) 655-7768 or E-Mail me at Lorid@uic.edu. I look forward to hearing from you.
